Nurses

Our Practice Nurses and Nurse Practitioners are highly qualified and fully registered nurses. Nurse Practitioners deal with a range of medical problems and minor illness, while both they and the nurses can help with health issues such as family planning, healthy living advice, blood pressure checks and dressings. The practice nurse Team also run clinics for long-term health conditions in conjunction with the Doctors and Health Care Assistants, such as asthma or diabetes, minor ailment clinics and carry out cervical smears. They are available for advice between 09:00 - 12:00 and 13:00 - 18:00.

Healthcare Assistants

Healthcare assistants support practice nurses with their daily work and carry out tasks such as phlebotomy (drawing blood), blood pressure measurement and new patient checks. They may act as a chaperone when a patient or doctor requests one.

Practice Management

The practice manager is involved in managing all of the business aspects of the practice such as making sure that the right systems are in place to provide a high quality of patient care, human resources, finance, patient safety, premises and equipment and information technology. The practice manager supports the GPs and other medical professionals with delivering patient services and also helps to develop extended services to enhance patient care.

Reception

Receptionists provide an important link for patients with the practice and are your initial contact point for general enquiries. They help organise appointments, repeat prescriptions, ambulance bookings and take requests for house calls.

Secretaries

Secretaries are the communication link between the GPs and other health services and hospitals. Patients who have already been referred for a hospital appointment will usually get a letter direct from the hospital with details of the appointment. If necessary the patient may make further enquiries from the hospital department themselves, but our secretaries will be happy to help if there are problems.

Health Visitors

A health visitor is a registered nurse who has received training particularly related to babies, children and pregnant women. Their role is to provide families with children under five years old with support and advice around the general aspects of mental, physical and social wellbeing.

Attached Staff

Community Matrons and Nurses specialise in the care of people who need nursing in their own home. They also have a role in health promotion and providing routine check-ups for the housebound.

Midwives help with care during and for 10 days after pregnancy.

We also have access to Dieticians, Podiatrists and other professionals, and we host services such as Hearing Aid Fitting and ENT Clinics, Skin surgery and Dermatology.
